Firsts

I wonder how long 'til they find you
whimpering like a puppy
on their doorstep
as I walk away from

Christmas
Birthday
Day of School
Home run
Gold Medal
A
A+
kiss
Love
True love
Real job
big promotion
Marriage
Child
Gray hair

That I could never give you.

I felt this poem was very powerful especially the last line. I loved the way you only used a few words in each line and I felt that it really helped to get your message across.

Yes, the short lines give each word importance, help us see these as magnificent events that will be missed.
