Caos

What separates man from beast
But the depth of his soul
Los sentimientos? his knowledge?
Su destino? The gol?

Dime todo, and say nothing
There was no warning, just light
And the days and the seasons
Turned into nada, dark nights

Un explosion! Then nothing
Then came lágrimas, no eyes
Y los cuerpos y los disfraces
Were turned to pieces and lies!

Que poder!?! No such power
That man claims to own
Could not stop this from happening
Flowing sangre, broken bones

Such caos! Such carnage
Una bomba y dolor
Slowed the beating of the heartbeats
Hear los toques de tambor

Right?

With only one movement
Your message is known
Your defiance of gravity
Has light undertones

You taketh, you maketh
When resting, you fold
But there’s more to the message
Of the futures you’ve told

I need you when fighting
But more so with rest
I can pledge my allegiance
By meeting my chest

I am lucky to be you
10 percent of the time
As it's damn near unlikely
To work as a mime

You converse, you swear
What’s a gal going to do?
With laces and buttons
And zippers and shoes

You’re symbol of peace
Or two lovers at best
For the world wants a shoulder
And you want the rest

You are there when I need you
Never far from my sight
When I look for inspiration
You’re the reason I write

One

Robbed
Stolen from me without my consent
Yet everyone knew
And everyone cared

Why, it was something so insignificant
So minuscule
That it gained meaning by being

Lost

I was warned, long time ago
That strength would be met with weakness
The harshness of my being, replaced by whispers
And yet the belief in my infallibility
My wisdom
Precluded me from my better judgment

I was made numb
Not by choice, but by reaction
Oh, what heat melts these old lady bones
Shuffles my gait, now wayward and drunk

Yet Sleep is, was
Both elusive and attainable
Endless cycles, and no escape

Tie her down, I'd hear
Send her home, they'd warn

And yet I did, I fell
                                     deeper into myself
Succumbed to it, Met peace, Made Serenity
And now I am one with it
and it is one with me.

With time, it was returned
But the memory still follows me
Haunts me like an overbearing presence

For Death is, was
So close,
but at least it remembered to knock

Mono

Fever

I feel too weak to move, I tell her
As I give back the thermometer
I am burning, burning, burning
For I am too hot for comfort and yet too cold for winter
And yet the haze, I see it before it sees me
Through slightly closed eyes, one hand to my head
I am tired I tell her.

I am sick.

Yet

She is a mean mean woman, mumbling words that I can barely hear
Both heaven and hell, mentioned in the same breath
The devil? My angel? Something about a something
Yet this blanket feels soft, this pillow heavy
And I am fading quite slowly within this cocoon of comfort
Burning pure yet, cleanliness is an issue?

Kleenex boxes
Food wrappers, broken candy bars
My chicken soup left untouched
I have no desire to eat and yet I crave something to match
This heat emanating from my body

Give me ice-cream, I ask
Or a sugary drink, maybe chocolate
A cool glance is met with delirious eyes
Something tasty, I say
I am not that picky

I hear a chuckle

Then a response:

By George, your temperature is 170 degrees!  You must really be sick.

I am busted.  Time for school.
