Christ Among the Doctors

Innocence, so pure and sweet,

science and reason try to defeat.

They attack, relentless, with fire and mace

hastening still their fall from grace.

It take faith to know the unknown,

to believe what labs might not have shown.

But they, like Simon, have to touch,

as their faith doesn't amount to much.

The beauty of a child, the King of Kings,

he has no interest in worldly things.

Though they scoff, with books and laws,

with a smile he forgives their flaws.

As doctors of science, faith seems more elusive,

yet must the two be mutually exclusive?

Wonderful job, Max, writing a sonnet for this week's assignment. Nice tight rhyme and meter. Your final question is timeless.

Hey Max,
This was a great poem and makes you really think about how science can often get in the way of faith. Your use of a question at the end was really powerful and left me thinking!
