Apology to my 11 year-old
Your grandpa stays out late, I know I don’t know where he goes just wherever it is, he loves you very much. He’s kind of sick, you know? He needs to get away sometimes No not from you I’m sorry.

I especially liked how the formatting put "He's kind" and "He needs" alone to say more than when combined with the rest of the phrase.
It leaves me thinking about the other "he":
"it is, he"
"loves..."
and what it is that he is.
I really like this poem- I think the conversational tone of it makes it even more powerful
