your lane

I was in a hurry
You were in the lane.
I wanted to get there fast
and pushed my foot to the accelerator
the lane narrowed.

Now I am in front
merged behind red lights

I’m sorry you had to slow down
you were in the lane first.

So prolific, Chris. I appreciate the change in verb tense, following the modifier, Now. It gives a sense of movement and how quickly an action and our thoughts about it can change- in the time it takes to change lanes!
